Signature Smithen is a two-person independent British fragrance house, founded in 2025 by Nate. We make niche eau de parfums built from scratch — not reformulations of what's already on the shelf, not "inspired by" briefs. We don't make dupes.

Our fragrances

Broken Cricket Bat is a woody aromatic EDP — pink pepper and cardamom at the top, cedarwood at the heart, sandalwood and oud at the base, with patchouli, blue cypress, juniper berry, clary sage and oakmoss in support. It's drawn from a single memory: the smell of a well-used cricket bat on a British summer evening — willow, linseed, the warmth of a long afternoon.

Peppery Amber is a spicy amber EDP — pink pepper and clove at the top, leather and cedarwood at the heart, amber and vanilla at the base. Fiery to start, smoky through the heart, warm and lingering at the end. Both fragrances are genuinely unisex, built around how notes actually behave on skin rather than "his" and "hers" marketing.

Why we don't make dupes

Plenty of small fragrance brands work from an "inspired by" brief: reformulating something already on the market for a fraction of the price. We don't. Every Signature Smithen fragrance starts from an original idea, not a reference bottle, and is tested on real skin over real days before it's finished. It's slower and riskier than copying a known bestseller, but it's the actual reason to do this independently.

Sample first

We sell both fragrances as 1.5ml samples for £6 — the same formula and concentration as the full bottle, just less commitment — because trying a niche fragrance shouldn't be a financial decision. Read our guide to trying samples properly before you buy.
